Solidarity
For years the relatively small democratic state of Israel has been under attack from Palestinian nationalism. Just as the citizens of Northern Ireland have faced decades of Irish nationalist violence so too the citizens of Israel have been bombed and shot by nationalist terrorists in pursuit of their nationalist agenda. Like the I.R.A. those that engage in cowardly acts of violence against innocent Israeli civilians have been given a respect they simply do not deserve with epithets such as "freedom fighter" and "anti-imperialist" being used to describe psychopathic murderers. The truth is somewhat more prosaic, far from being motivated by some higher purpose these cowards, be they Irish or Palestinian nationalists, are motivated by age old sectarian/racist prejudices and irredentist territorial claims to lands that they have no legitimate claim to. Palestinian nationalism does not, however, stop with the persecution of the Jewish people but also extends to the small minority of Christians living within areas controlled by the Palestinians. The PLO and the IRA are part of the overall web of international terrorism that feeds from the whole web of cancerous relations that spans the world.
